established in 1956
The Jackson 5, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Bob Hope, Styx, Cher, Burl Ives, Perry Como, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jimmy Durante, Luci & Desi Arnaz, Liberace, Gene Autry and more graced the original Statler stage upon opening. The Statler was then known for its celebrity appearances and recognized as one the first modern hotels in the United States. The iconic space boasting of retro-forward, mid-twentieth century design and added amenities has received a notable amount of press and attention since its reopening. The Statler could be described as an entertainment destination with a boutique hotel attached.
To inaugurate the monumental return, Tony Bennett performed in the Grand Ballroom on March 3, 2018, at the reopening of The Statler, singing the same song he so elegantly sang at our original opening in 1956, “It Amazes Me”.
